Why in the World are you running for County Judge?

Naturally, this is a question I'm asked frequently. Recently, when asked, I jokingly quipped, "I misplaced my marbles," which drew a laugh, and then explained my reasoning. Generally, when I'm asked this question, the inquirer isn't looking for a specific issue in the County that prompted me to run, nor are they asking about history that led me to this point (which can be found here: https://www.votehoman.com/about). The asker is asking for my WHY. This is it-
Fayette County is a special place. It’s the kind of county where people know their neighbors, where communities still show up for one another, and where children can be raised with strong values, a sense of responsibility, and pride in where they come from. That’s the Fayette County my family chose to return to, and it’s the Fayette County I want to protect and strengthen for the next generation. That is the first and most important reason I’m running for Fayette County Judge.
Like many families, we didn’t come here by accident. When I was nearing the end of my military service, my wife, Kelly, and I were evaluating our options using a set of parameters based mainly on what we wanted for our growing family. We quickly realized we didn't need to go to some far-off place or somewhere new; we only needed to head home. We returned because Fayette County offered something that’s becoming harder to find—safe communities, good schools, a strong work ethic, and a way of life that puts family and community first. It reminded us of how things should be, and how they used to be in many places. I want to make sure that future families have the same opportunity to raise their children here that we have.
But preserving what makes Fayette County great doesn’t happen automatically. It requires leadership that understands how to manage growth without losing identity, progress without sacrificing values, and efficiency without forgetting people. As County Judge, my focus will always be on thoughtful, steady decision-making that keeps Fayette County a place families want to stay, an ideal place to raise children, and a place where they can succeed.
The second reason I’m running is simple: I am called to serve, and I have experience, talents, and abilities well-suited to serve the people of Fayette County.
Fayette County needs a County Judge who understands the bottom line, knows how to lead and motivate people, and has proven their merit—someone who can bring people together, listen carefully, and make decisions with long-term consequences in mind. My professional, military, and community experience has prepared me to do exactly that. I understand the importance of fiscal responsibility, transparent government, and working collaboratively with the Commissioners Court, county employees, first responders, and community leaders. I know the importance of building and fostering a positive culture in a large organization because I have done it.
This role isn’t about politics—it’s about service. It’s about showing up, listening, and making decisions that put the county’s future ahead of personal or political interests.
I’m running for Fayette County Judge because I care deeply about this County and the people who call it home. I want to help ensure that Fayette County remains a place where families can thrive, businesses can grow, and our communities stay strong for generations to come. That is WHY I am running.
I would be honored to earn your trust and your vote.
